What a weekend!
Friday…I spent the morning finishing up stuff for Sunday since I missed Monday in the office. I wrote my sermon up at Panera Bread and worked on some other stuff. I really like getting out of the office and doing work. I’ll probably do that more often.
Then Friday afternoon, Beth and I painted our living room. It has needed a second coat for over a year now but we never got around to it. But since we are replacing our floors this week, I figured this was the best time!
Saturday… was a long one! It started with a camp planning meeting in Portsmouth with Roger Burns, Chris Conley, and James Davis. I’m really getting excited about camp! It think it’s gonna be a good week but there is still lots to be done.
After the camp meeting we had practice for The Rescue (the worship band I play in). We are leading worship for an area-wide lock-in in May. Practice went really great and we started working on some new tunes. I was pretty much deaf when I left.
Then Beth and I headed back to Richmond to see Jacob Filegar (one of our teens) in Narnia. Jacob does a lot of acting in a group called CYT (i think it stands for Christian Youth Theater). It’s a top-notch youth arts program. Great play, we really enjoyed it.
Sunday… was kind of a rough morning. We lost an hour of sleep (on top of the fact that I got very little sleep all weekend). The time change threw some things off and we had a couple workers show up late or not show up at all. But everything worked out and it was still a good morning. I wasn’t overly excited about my sermon though. That’s the thing about preaching just once on a Sunday, you only get one chance. (the interesting thing is that there was one “activity” we did that really connected with the teens but didn’t connect all that much to the overall theme of the day…oh well!)
After a great lunch at Chiptole, Beth and I went home to put our house back together after painting. Then we had a Youth Ministry Team meeting which lasted until our small group Bible studies.
Then we finished the night off at the Williams house. Ate dinner and hung out. Always a great way to end the weekend…just hanging with good friends talking about whatever.
So, it was a busy, busy weekend. But it was a great one! This weekend will be another crazy one since we are replace all our floors. Could be interesting.
